Smart Ideas For Small Kitchens
18 Apr 2018

Small kitchens presents a big problem for a lot of people, because kitchens aren’t only about cooking, but it’s the place where you eat, store the different kitchen items and tools like, pan and pots and above all that need enough free space to move freely as well. The good news is that you can enjoy all of that even if you have a small kitchen, so if you are interested to know how, read this article.

We will start with the cabinets, when you buy the kitchen cabinets, go for the tall cabinets that reaches the ceiling, they will provide you with extra storage spaces. If you don’t like the tall cabinets, use the top of the kitchen cabinets as a storage place by storing some of your kitchen stuff in baskets and place them above your kitchen cabinets. Just make sure to store the stuff that you don’t usually use, you know they won’t be that easy to reach.

When you look for the kitchen island, look for a small one that has different and various storage places like, shelves and cabinets to get enough space to store your pans and pots. The kitchen island can save more space by using it as a kitchen table for eating breakfast, wondering how? Buy couple of stools and tuck them under the kitchen island and simply drag them out when it’s meal time. This idea will turn the kitchen island into a multifunctional piece and it will save you extra free space to move freely in the same time.

If you want to have a special place for eating instead of the kitchen island, look for a foldable table set. It’s the smartest solution for small kitchen, you can extend the set when it’s meal time, then you can fold it after finishing and guess what? You can store it in any place even outside the kitchen, because when it’s folded they become so small to store and easy to carry and move.

If your kitchen space can’t even accommodate a small island, then it’s time to look for a smart alternative like butcher block cart for example. Theses carts come with several shelves and most of the designs come with one drawer at least, you can use the shelves to store some of your kitchen stuff like tea set and you can use the drawers to store your forks, spoons, knifes or any other small cooking tools. The butcher block cart can be easily moved and you can store it in any empty corner of your kitchen.

If you don’t like this idea, you can replace it with another smart solution called the kitchen hutch. The kitchen hutch comes with different designs and sizes that can fit any kitchen and what is more amazing about it is that it’s full of storage places like, cabinets, drawers and shelves and open racks. For sure you can imagine the number of the stuff that you can store in these different storage places. For adding a touch of beauty to your kitchen hutch, replace the wooden doors with glass ones, stick LED strip or small spot light and enjoy enhancing the beauty of your precious tea set.

The kitchen hutch has something like a countertop that you can use for chopping vegetables and fruits, placing some of your kitchen stuff like your spices set or you can put a vase or a fruit basket on as a decorative piece; the choices are endless. The basic rule that most designers recommend in small space is using the vertical space, so what about applying this idea by using wall shelves? I know they won’t accommodate that much of things, but at least they can eliminate any clutter in your kitchen.

We can’t deny the major effect of the wall colors and the proper lighting in making small space look bigger, in this regard, always look for the light colors like white and make sure to provide your kitchen with enough natural lighting and extra lighting fixtures as well. Using designing software to see a close image to what your kitchen will look like may inspire you with extra and different ideas and it will help you to add any modifications or refinements to the design you chose.
